Backpack Essentials : Packing for a Day of Adventure

Here at Honest Bean HQ we love spending time outdoors, whether that’s a day out exploring nature, tackling bustling city streets, or wandering around country villages. Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or a newbie explorer, we know that having the right backpack essentials can make all the difference to a day of exploration.

That's why we've popped together our handy list of must-have items for your next adventure, wherever that may be...

Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is crucial when you're on the move. Invest in a durable and reusable water bottle that you can refill throughout the day. It’s a great idea to opt for an insulated bottle to keep your water cool in hot weather.

Snacks

We’ve got all the expertise on this one! Pack, lightweight, energy boosting snacks to keep hunger at bay. Our roasted fava bean snack packs in handy 40g shots always fit the bill and are a great way to refuel on the go - keeping you energised so you can spend longer outdoors. We also love a sweet hit from Lexi’s Ooey Gooey Crispy Treats – guaranteed to satisfy any sweet tooth, without the calories!

Map

Even in the age of GPS, we always like a physical map as a back-up. Getting lost is not an option! Ordnance Survey have all the mapping you’ll ever need for exploring our great isle.

First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen when you're out exploring, so it's essential to be prepared. Pack a compact first aid kit containing bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, blister plasters, and don’t forget medications you may need. A good insect repellent may also be a good choice to pack.

All-Weather Gear

Whether shielding yourself from the sun’s rays or dodging the showers, remember to pack the sunscreen, sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, and your lightweight rain jacket. A cover for your backpack will also protect your belongings in the event of a downpour.

Headlamp or Torch

Even if you don't plan on staying out after dark, it's wise to carry a headlamp or torch in case your map reading lets you down, and your adventure lasts longer than expected. Choose a hands-free option for convenience and do pack extra batteries.

Smartphone and Portable Charger

Whilst we think it’s essential to disconnect and enjoy nature, a smartphone can be a valuable tool for navigation, communication, and capturing memories. Don't forget to pack a portable and lightweight charger to keep your devices powered up.

We hope these essentials will ensure you stay hydrated, fuelled, protected, and prepared for whatever your day of adventure may bring. So, pack your backpack, lace up your walking boots, and be ready to embark on your exploration with enthusiasm. Happy exploring!
